Jenny Geras speaks up for genre fiction - let everyone read what they want

Hurrah, a common sense reply to *that* Decca Apronhead piece in the Guardian. Not that we needed tobe told but thank you so much, Jenny.

My theory is that our readers a - don't care what anyone thinks or b - are astonished by the bitchiness aroused by another person's choice of reading pleasure.

I'm sure most readers just read whatever they want, when they want. When I was sixteen and doing my first work experience at the local newspaper, one of the reporters told me to read everything from The Sun to The Guardian and it's stuck with me as a habit since. Same with literature.
