Social networking for romance readers
Permalink Reply by Sue Moorcroft on August 6, 2011 at 11:13 Hello! Thanks for inviting me into the spotlight. (Be glad you can't actually see me and my Saturday morning scruffiness - I'm dressed but eyes are not quite open ...)
I'm writing romantic fiction for Choc Lit (where heroes are like chocolate - irresistible) and loving it! My latest book is Love & Freedom, which is about Honor Sontag, an American visiting England in search of her English mother in the Brighton area. She gets caught up with the gossip-fodder Mayfair family, particularly Martyn Mayfair, who seems to have nothing much to do with his life but aggravate her. She aggravates him in return by going to work for Robina, Martyn's stalker, and taking Rufus, Robina's son, under her wing, saving him from the local bully, Frog. Honor does return to Connecticut for a while - because, when people are in trouble, that's what they do. Go home.
Love & Freedom follows my other Choc Lit novels, Starting Over, All That Mullarkey and Want to Know a Secret. In Choc Lit, I seem to have found my spiritual home, as they like to publish exactly what I like to write - a hero with absolute pulling power.
I also wrote Love Writing - How to Make Money Writing Romantic and Erotic Fiction for Accent Press, which kind of pulls all of my skills together, as I'm a creative writing tutor and long-time member of the Romantic Novelists' Association. I was able to get a whole lot of input from writers of romantic fiction and from industry professionals, too, which made the book a joy to write.
My earlier stuff is available as ebooks.
Other writing: two monthly columns for Writers' Forum; columns for Girlracer.co.uk; short stories; serials; occasional articles. (I like to keep busy.) (And it helps me avoid housework.) (And afford a cleaner.)

Yes, I'll be at the festival for the whole thing - I'm doing a workshop on writing romantic fiction on Friday and I'm on a panel on Saturday. I"m looking forward to the event - my year generally seems to be light on festivals and/or conferences in autumn, so I'm really glad that the Festival of Romance has come into being.

Have just realised that I've forgotten the giveaway!
Leave a comment on this post to be entered into the draw to win a copy of Love & Freedom! Phew. Got there in the end.
Sue
You forgot to mention what a fab tutor you are too. Your comments on my first novel changed the way I write (for the better, I hasten to add).

Just popping in to say 'hello' - and I agree with Page, the cover for 'Love and Freedom' is stunning!

I was fortunate enough to be tutored by you and will always be grateful for your perceptive, but kind, comments. Now I'm off to see if your 'Love Writing' book is available as an ebook.
kind regards,
