Social networking for romance readers
I thought I'd start an introductions thread for when new people come along and our previous intros have fallen of the bottom of the conversation thread.
I'm Tors, I live in Cambridgeshire at the moment.
I'm writing in a contempary forces romance, and so far it seems to be going ok.
I don't have pets, I don't have kids but I am a budding gardener.

Permalink Reply by Lucie Wheeler on July 25, 2011 at 16:57 Hello!
My name is Lucie and I live in Essex. I have written my first full length novel and it has been returned to me from the NWS with a couple of tweaks to apply. Apart from that, it looks promising and after my wedding next month, I shall be knuckling down to those tweaks and getting it off to my publisher of choice, in the hope that they may like it. I shall be attending the FoR on the Saturday daytime and the ball in the evening so I'll look forward to meeting you all there. I have a 4 (nearly 5) year old and so I write when she is at school - which is now going to prove hard for the next 6 weeks!
I write contemporary romance but I love to read all sorts of genres and quite often now, review early copies of books for authors.
I hope everyone is doing well? I look forward to speaking with other people in the same writing situation as me.

I'm Liz and I write romantic fiction and my WIP came back from the RNA New Writer Scheme a few weeks ago so I look forward to putting the guidance and direction I was given into my writing.
I've also just came back from the Festival of Romance event which happened this weekend and am full of insipration and motivation. I will be blogging about the event on www.liz-crump.blogspot.com later on today.
I look forward to chatting to fellow writers and can't wait to hear about your success stories!

Permalink Reply by Elin Gregory on October 26, 2011 at 16:35 Hello, folks. I'm Elin - a writer of [mostly] male/male historical romance and a reader of pretty much anything with a nice pacey plot. M/M is a fairly new genre and tends to be lumped in with erotica. I've never got the hang of erotica so write action adventure stuff where the heroes give each other occasional meaningful glances when they aren't fighting [insert antagonist here] or fleeing [ditto].
Last year I Nanowrimoed about pirates and am still poking that story. This year I have had a couple of shorts published in GLBT anthologies, have finished a novella and submitted it to a proper publisher. I'm trying to pretend that I'm very confident about that [but of course I'm not!]. Currently I have 2 WIPs in the first draft stage - one about the Secret Intelligence Service in the 1920s and this years Nanowrimo based on an ancient piece of early Welsh poetry.
I am married, have 2 grown up kids, work in a castle and like my peace and quiet.
I blog on Live Journal as elin_gregory , on blogspot as elingregory , and there's a website too.
I didn't make it to the Festival of Romance this year. Maybe next?

I'm Lynne.
I've just finished writing the final draft of a contemporary romance.
Today I'm posting it off to an agent, so fingers crossed!

Have you been trad published -check out my profile - we might be able to meet up.
Been to sales today -could write a story about that for magazine -chatted to loads of different people. With a variety of reasons for liking sales - one woman even enjoyed the elbows out -heads down -charge element to snatch a bargain.
I remember going to Harrods once and being swept off my feet by the crowd and in one door and out the other in minutes without being able to get to any counter. Had to start all over again.Anyone else done that sort of shopping.
In the end my xmas pudding was handed over the head of crowd to me and money went back same way.

Permalink Reply by Francine Howarth on December 30, 2011 at 12:12 Hi Tors,
I'm Francine, I live in Pembrokeshire, born in the West Country and can roll my Rs with the best of 'em down in deepest darkest Somerset (with a drop of the tiddly stuff, of course). Without going into author life history I've been published before, have a contemporary romance novel coming out with a US publisher in July 2012, but have also set to with self-pubbing historical romances. WHY? After subbing one historical novel to a couple of publishers, a year passed by before the final rejection hit my inbox. Hence, with a little research on Amazon, I've figured I can make more sales from Kindle and paperbacks via Amazon, than I could or would sell via a small press publisher. To date Amazon is proving that theory correct. The reason I say this is because it only takes a quick look at book rankings to see Indies are doing as well, and in many cases, better than small press books. The tide is turning, Amazon has the edge! But that said, brand image is vital re continuity of cover design (instantly recognisable) plus interior presentation of text: along with the usual requirements for a damn good read. http://tgunwriter.blogspot.com So that's me as author and where I am at present. Anyone in West Wales south of Aber (Cerid) or Swansea (west) and would like a get-together, give me bell on email. francinehvr@yahoo.com

My name is Helen but, I write under the pseudonym Nel Ashley, feel free to call me either Helen or Nel. I write mainly paranormal fiction and have just finished my first novel, "Blackfeather". I am currently editing this (third draft) and have signed up to Camp NaNoWriMo for the August "retreat" to write the sequel , "Immortal".
I have several other novels in various stages of completion too, all paranormal romance and mythological fantasy and one Young Adult romance.

Permalink Reply by Edith O Nuallain on May 17, 2012 at 20:40 Hi, I'm Edith and I am very new to all of this! I have been writing for years, but mostly book reviews for various publications, and a touch of memoir. Oh yes and lots of journaling and writing in response to prompts! I have shelf loads of books about how to write! But now I have decided to 'get serious'! So I spend my days either writing, or editing, or studying the how-to. Oh yes and I read lots as well. I love 'having' to read and consider it part of my research into structure and technique!! Gotta love this life choice! :-)
I created a new writing blog last week and am planning to post regularly, so drop in for a chat/comment if you're passing by!

Other than that I am married these last 23, almost 24 years, and we have 5 children, ranging in age from 10 to 21 years.
Looking forward to interacting with everyone and sharing writing experiences. Edith x
