Thankyou Keta, that's very helpful and informative. I will google Yahoo groups. I agree with you 70% for the publisher and all sweeping rights is unfair. Best wishes Jaqui x

Someone asked about signing over all the rights to their books for 30% royalties. I could write an entire article on this topic, but won't bore you. I had hoped by now publishers would have gotten the message and raised their royalty rates to 50%. Which even that, in my opinion, is quite generous for THEM. They didn't write the darn book - they only want to convince you they can market it. You can do that on your own. Is it work? Yes, but ten times better than giving the publisher 70% of your royalties with a "promise" of marketing. Truthfully, once you sign that contact, they are under no obligation to market it and most don't. There are numerous self-publishing yahoo groups for authors with max support and many posts about this very same topic. Please search under Yahoo groups on Google and join some (don't take my word for it). Go to Yahoo Groups (google) and IN Yahoo groups search for self-publishing, indie authors, worldiwide indies and anything that might related. Only those authors who have been traditionally published for years can tell you the "REAL" facts on legacy publishing. Good luck, Keta

Sorry I missed your last message to me, Sheri! Notification went to spam. That's awesome that you had someone to speak with for Rhycious! My latest is coming along slowly. I've attempted a shifter book for the first time ever, so it's been a long, slow, painful birth! LOL

Looks really good, Francine. Thanks!

Re PTSD. I have written a semi-autobiographical account of PTSD set within novel format, which was very cathartic to pen. It's called Love Walked In - a contemporary romantic suspense.  Available via Amazon Kindle.

I was able to use actual events from someone's life that suffered from PTSD for my novel. A very cool dude, my case study. Rosanna, how's your new book coming along?

Thanks Francine. Historicals are different though, aren't they? It was a totally different world back then, and in war, issues abound. I'm very curious to read it. Sheri's book also deals with PTSD, albeit in a more fantastical setting. You too should talk! :)
