Write 100k in 100days

Thank you to Kate Allan for inviting me to set up this group here at the Festival of Romance Site. Starting January 1st 2012 and ending April 9th 2012 I am going to be running a challenge to write 100,000 words in 100 days. That's 1000 words a day. Or 7000 words a week.

Full details are on my blog (linked below) and I've also written a post suggesting what you can do with 100k words. http://quillersplace.wordpress.com/2011/11/18/what-can-you-do-with-100k-words/

During the challenge I will be posting up prompts every day on my blog, and asking others to supply them. So are you in?

51,000 by day 100.  So way behind on the challenge but found it really did make me write (almost) every day and that in itself made me keep going on the WIP, even when my plot refused to move forward. I'd love to know how the other members of this group got on.

Well done, Lynne. I lost a lot of writing time editing and preparing a submission and fell well behind my schedule. However, I have been writing like crazy at the weekends and have clawed my way back to 63K by day 71. I'm doggedly determined to get that 100K by day 100. So far, the discipline has enabled me to complete one work (now submitted) and get to 30K on my new WIP, so it's working for me.

Hi All,

Today I reached 30K+ - next milestone 50K, hopefully by the end of March, day job permitting. Behind schedule I know, but liking the way my WIP's plot is turning out (which is totally not the way I thought it would turn out when I started writing it).  How is everyone else doing?

Congrats on finishing the draft Susan! :D Am SO looking forward to finishing this one!

Just finished a chapter so I'm now on 20,884. Still way behind, but next goal - 25k!

Only managed a miserable 3K this week (and all on Sunday!) but ...drumroll... have completed draft 1 of WIP. Feel like turning a cartwheel (except I don't want to end up hospitalised!). Lots of redrafting ahead. Roll on next weekend and 4 glorious days of freedom (well, freedom to write anyway). Well done Elle & Lynne. You are so right - those milestones are so important and so encouraging. I have fallen back to 32K by day 36, but never mind. It's still progress. Keep going guys!

I know what you mean about 20K being a milestone - I got there on Thursday and felt I'd really got into my WIP, but Friday and Saturday saw me wrestling with my plot and no actual writing!  Hopefully being snowed in today will give me some extra hours of keyboard time to get going again!

That's great Susan! Am envious of you now - had hoped to do lots more this week but had a lot of other work to contend with! Still, here's hoping for a few more days of writing time.

Right now I'm on 18,299. Will try and hit 20k tomorrow, at least it's a milestone! ;)

Very busy time at work with preliminary exam (mocks) marking & reporting to parents so too tired at night to write (or think). I am relying on weekends to catch up and will try my very best. Happily I have a long weekend coming up (4 glorious days) so hope to write lots then. Getting to the end of a first draft of WIP, so will be redrafting, honing (plenty of deleting and rewriting, no doubt). Not sure how that will affect my daily word count but will cross that bridge... How are you all doing?

Feeling rather self-satisfied. Considering there were 14 days in which I wrote nothing at all, due to my son's emergency op abroad, I am currently at 26,500 words by day 28. I hope to make up the deficit tomorrow. Come hell or high water... How is everyone else doing? (My WIP stands at 65K - whoopee)

16,525 now but still behind! Hoping to make up for it shortly.
