Isabelle Goddard replied to Kate Allan's discussion Birdsong (on TV)
"I agree with you about the romance aspect, Kate.  It didn't ring true to me.  The 'hero' was a 20 year old boy in 1910 and from a privileged background. I'm doubtful whether he would have ever acted so - the sex scenes…"

Isabelle Goddard commented on Romantic Fiction News's blog post US writer declares romance novels deserve no respect
"Romance is such a wide ranging genre that McCaskey's criticism may well apply to some titles - I don't know the US market well enough - but it also encompasses gems such as du Maurier's Rebecca which is often taught as part of a uni…"

"I agree,  I tried both Kindle and Smashwords and gave up with the latter  - I thought I'd cracked it, only to have a message saying this or that wasn't up to scratch and try again.  I found Kindle hard…"

About me
It took me a long time to try my hand at writing a novel but I'm very glad I did. I've now had two Regency romances published and a third accepted. Over the years I've enjoyed a variety of careers - secretary, air stewardess, university lecturer - but being a writer is by far the best!

I've just heard that my first novel Reprobate Lord, Runaway Lady, has been nominated for an award in the US by Romantic Times.  As a relative newcomer to romance writing, actually any writing, I haven't a clue as to how important or otherwise this is but my editor tells me that it's definitely a Good Thing!
