Book Review: Never Coming Home by Evonne Wareham

Never Coming Home

Evonne Wareham

Choc Lit, March 2012

Never Coming Home by Evonne Wareham is a mix of contemporary romance and thriller, two genres that could be difficult to mix.

Evonne Wareham has managed to pull this off and has produced a fast paced story with some complex characters.

The story takes place in America, London and Italy and has a fair sprinkling of unexpected deaths mixed up with the tensions and complexities of the emerging romance between the two lead characters.

Kaz Elmore’s young daughter was killed in a car accident in the US while in the care of her ex-husband.  Some months later a mysterious guy by the name of Devlin visits her to tell her that he was there at the time of her daughter’s death. It soon becomes clear that Devlin’s account of that day is very different to the one that Kaz was told. Devlin is a strange character who appears to be hiding from his past. Despite this Kaz trusts and believes him. As they work together to unravel the mystery, they grow closer and closer.

The emotional baggage between them is huge, the plot is quick and fast paced and the characters are well developed. It's not a traditional romance at all: it's full of action and spark.
